FAITH 2.0 IS OUR RESPONSE!

"In a document released today titled “Evangelii Gaudium” (The Joy of the Gospel), the pope offers a much more complete look at his approach to the church’s primary mission of evangelization in the modern world.

It is a remarkable and radical document, one that ranges widely and CHALLENGED COMPLACENCY at every level. IT CRITIQUES the over-centralization of church bureaucracy, POOR PREACHING and EXCESSIVE EMPHASIS ON DOCTRINE, while WHILE ENCOURAGING PASTORAL CREATIVITY and OPENNESS, even calling for a much-needed “pastoral conversion” in papal ministry.

Francis urges pastors and faithful to "ABANDON THE COMPLACENT ATTITUDE THAT SAYS: WE HAVE DONE IT THIS WAY." I invite everyone to be BOLD and CREATIVE in this task of RETHINKING THE GOALS, STRUCTURES, STYLE AND METHODS OF EVANGELIZATION in their respective communities."

G.I.G. - Getting Intimate w/ God

Lord, we offer to You the hearts and souls of thousands of teachers and students who made a decision to accept You as their personal Lord and Savior last December 19, 2014 in our annual G.I.G. (Getting Intimate w/ God). We entrust to You the efforts and sacrifices of people behind FAITH 2.0 REVOLUTION. We will never get tired of praying for and working for spiritual revival in our school. Nothing can stop us. No one can hinder us. 

"If God is for us, who can be against us." (Romans 8:31)

May we continue to burn for You! May we never run out of time, talents, treasure and passion in thinking of creative, innovative, youthful and meaningful ways of sharing Your Love and Word with the youth of this generation. May Faith 2.0 Revolution continue to minister to the youth, touch their hearts and transform their lives. May Faith 2.0 Revolution continue to speak the language of the youth and address their needs so that faith will be more meaningful, relevant and sensible to them. This is what youth ministry is! This is what new evangelization is! This is Faith 2.0 Revolution! May there be more people who will choose to be brave to stand up for You and give glory to You.

21st Century Evangelization and Education

If students don’t learn the way we teach, perhaps, we should teach them the way they learn. 21st century teachers should adjust to the culture, needs, language and context of the students if they want meaningful, effective and relevant learning to take place. This is Faith 2.0.

The use of technology, Internet, Web 2.0 tools and social networking sites can help students develop higher level thinking skills. 21st century educators should use the language of the digital generation for education, values formation and evangelization. This is Faith 2.0.

Social Media is the biggest shift and latest trend in evangelization and education. Religious and educational institutions need to utilize the available tools to spread the Word and Love of God. This is Faith 2.0.

“The media are invaluable helps for Christian education. They can call on the services of the greatest specialists in religious teaching as well as of experts on all the questions that arise. The media have at their command all the technical facilities required for attractive and contemporary presentation. They can back up most effectively the personal work of the daily teacher. Their resources make possible the radical changes that are required in the whole style of religious instruction today.” (Communio Et Progressio No. 129)

MAY GOD SPEAK TO US IN THE DIGITAL WORLD!

May the God of both the physical and the digital world bless us.  May all the videos, photos, blogs and posts in this community be God's means to speak to us.  He wants to speak to us, and wants us to feel how much He loves us.  And so, He will be using the language which we will truly understand, comprehend and use.  He will be using the available, relevant and meaningful ways to express His love to us.  May His Presence, Word, Love and Grace be felt and experience in the digital world.  Just allow Him to speak to you, to be with you and to love you in this virtual world.  Just open your hearts, minds and souls.   Allow Him to move in your world, touch your hearts and transform your lives. Faith 2.0 Mission

May God's Word and Love be communicated through creative, innovative and meaningful ways. May God's hand touch the hearts and transform the lives of this digital generation.  May the Word be known, understood, spoken, incarnated and experienced through the language of this digital generation (Faith 2.0)

 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us" (John 1:1-3, 14).

What is Faith 2.0?

The 21^st century generation is the digital generation.  They communicate, learn and express themselves digitally.  They receive, process and convey information through multimedia, mass media and Internet.  Truly, this is really a different and special generation.  And so, a different and special evangelization approach should be utilized too.  Faith 2.0 is the latest trend. And it is only through Faith 2.0, this modern and innovative approach that they can make sense of and find meaning in their faith. 

First, Faith 2.0 is a faith revolution and theology innovation.  It is a creative and gradual movement from the traditional faith, that we used to know and grew up with (Faith 1.0).  Faith 2.0 is a drift from neo-Scholastic theology which regards faith as man’s assent to truths revealed by God.  Faith is not merely something to be known and understood.  It is something that needs to be experienced and internalized.  Faith is a both a communal and a personal relationship of man with God.  Second, Faith 2.0 is a breakthrough in evangelization.  Faith 2.0 is a shift from the old, conservative and traditional strategies in evangelization (Faith 1.0).  Faith 2.0 acknowledges the needs, language, culture and context of the people to whom the Word of God will be delivered.  The Word of God should be communicated to the people, most especially the youth, in the language they will understand.  And so, creative, modern and progressive methods will be used to make the Word of God new, fresh, sensible and relevant.  Faith 2.0 is the most contextual and appropriate evangelization tool and approach in the 21^st century.  Faith 2.0 is the act of making sense of our faith in the digital world.  This is the innovative approach that will be utilized to address the needs and concerns of the 21^st century learners.  Third, Faith 2.0 is inspired by Web 2.0, the latest trend in the world wide web.  It is characterized by shared responsibility, social networking, experience-centeredness, interactivity, social interaction, creativity, collaboration, dynamism, knowledge-sharing, youth empowerment, community and nation building, global awareness, meaning and relevance, information literacy, multimedia arts and technology utilization.  And so, the use of Web 2.0 tools, digitals arts, technology, multimedia and social networking, which are the skills of the 21^st century learners, is integrated in communicating the Word of God.
